Lebanese Taverna - Washington DC

This restaurant was right across from our hotel and highly recommended. We went one day for lunch and tried to decide on items to order. The menu can be overwhelming at first because there were so many items to choose from. First you have to choose if you want to go the entree route or the small plates route. Unfortunately the wait staff was not much help and had to be flagged down several times.

There are few different variations of hummus to choose from, and I chose one with meat. The hummus was good, the meat was a little strange and I found myself picking around it. I order some typed of fried cheese that was certainly the stand out, but not enough to make a meal upon. A basket of bread was served with each order. It was great, but we ran out and had to flag a waiter down for more. Once we finally got it, we were almost finished and stated if we had the bread 10 minutes before the meal would have been better.
The food was good and I would go back. The service needed improving drastically. Next time perhaps I could get a server that could help navigate the menu and then the food would be as good as everyone was talking about.
